About Me

My photo
Phil Turner
From my early years as a youth I had been brought up enjoying the ocean . My father was an avid fisherman and we holidayed often on the south coast of N.S.W, and during these times he took me out to sea in small boats where we chased Kingfish, Snapper, Morwong and Flathead. In the afternoons when the ocean became choppy we would walk out to the platforms around Currarong. His favourite fishing was to chase Rock Blackfish from a location called Slanting Rock. These were the years that influenced the rest of my life. Obtaining a Geology degree, I worked in mining looking for diamonds, copper and gold. I loved the bush and work but missed the ocean, so returned to Sydney. Becoming a teacher, allowed me time to spend with my family, bringing my girls up around the ocean, as my father had with me. Over the last 30 years of my life I have spent an increasing time along the coastal stretches on N.S.W. fishing with friends along cliffs and beaches. It is not just the fishing I enjoy but the adventure, company, locations and nature of the journey. There’s always something new to observe and learn.
